I have always been passionate about theatre, and next fall, I will be attending Idyllwild Arts Academy, one of the three arts boarding schools in this country (the other two are Interlochen and Walnut Hill, in Michigan and Massachusetts), with a musical theatre concentration. I started this blog as a way to detail my journey, with emphasis on three factors:
- What it is like to attend a boarding school and advice for anyone going away to school for the first time
- What it is like to attend an arts boarding school, specifically as a theatre major
- What it is like to live in Idyllwild, California, the beautiful rustic town my new school is located in
Since at the time of this writing it is only April, and I will not be starting Idyllwild until the fall, here is what I will be blogging about in the meantime:
- Preparing for living away from home for the first time and my journey to get here so far
I see my blog as a great read for someone who is in a similar situation or who is visiting Idyllwild the town for the first time. I hope to help people who are curious about life at an arts boarding school or who are maybe thinking of making a similar school change in their lives. While I will be blogging about feelings such as homesickness, this blog is not a diary and won't be too personal. I definitely won't be exposing anyone in a Gossip Girls sort of way, so if you're reading this blog hoping for drama, you've come to the wrong place.
In addition, the main source for what's going on at Idyllwild and questions about the school is the website, not me. Still, once I start attending the school, I hope to help answer your questions as best as I can.
Enjoy my blog, and feel free to ask questions!
XOXOXOX,
